ROBOTICS

Robotics Team 4482 is made up of H.C.A. and Home School high school students.  2013 was our rookie season and we had a fantastic experience.  USFirst Robotics is an international organization that conducts competitions in which teams, such as ours, build and use a robot. Team members get to show their skill in so many different areas.  Some of the skills include computer programming, CAD, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, video and photography, promotion and advertising.  Any interested students can join.

Intelligent Design Robotics Team 4482 is part of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST was created to interest high-school students in engineering and science. Students receive the opportunity to train with real world engineers. Participation increases science, engineering, technology, and business skills.

FIRST Robotics Competition organizes short games played by robots. The robots are designed and built in six weeks starting in early January. The game rules and robots are new every year. In addition to winning competitions, judges evaluate teams and present awards based on: design, technology, sportsmanship, and a commitment to FIRST values.

FIRST values include: high quality work, value of individuals, and respect for others and community. FIRST strives to produce people who learn together and compete fiercely, while still treating one another with respect and kindness.

I.D. Robotics was founded in the fall of 2012 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and currently has over 15 members who are guided through the process of creating a robot by many experienced mentors.

Our team slogan is “Building others up through intelligently designed robots.” It is based on our team verse, which is Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.  Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
